Tin powder measure based on surviving examples collected by T.J. Cooper of Pennsylvania as sketched and described in “Museum of the Fur Trade Quarterly” Vol. 12 No. 4. Holds 50-60 grains, tube measures 2 1/4″.

The first rifle order from the U.S. Office of Indian Trade to Henry Deringer on June 27, 1809 specified that the rifles were to be “compleat with chargers, molds & wiper”…These descriptions [of sample rifles] consistently included “tin chargers” in the accessories to be furnished with each rifle.
