Description
Based on original document case found on the shipwreck of the General Carleton, 1785. From The General Carleton Shipwreck, 1785, edited by Waldemar Ossowski, “Dimensions length 124mm, width 70mm, thickness 14mm. Flat, rectangular tin alloy box with rounded edges and no lid. The upper rim features crescent-shaped notches. Inside the box were four fragments of a document which gave immunity from impressments on the grounds of being an apprentice.”
